The Florida Eels Junior B team is fire on ice this season. They defeated the Tampa Bay Bolts last week in their opening weekend series 2-1 and 4-2. They continued this effort in this last weekend’s Metropolitan Hockey League’s Showcase in Philadelphia.
The Eels Junior B team came out solid this weekend defeating the Charleston Wolverines twice over the weekend 4-2 and 5-2. Zack Buckland led the team with 4 goals in the 2 games, while Wehebe Darge had a hat trick in the second game against the Wolverines. Nathan Makler shut down the Wolverines offensively between the pipes only allowing 2 goals in the 2 games.
The Eels first loss of the season was to the Long Island Royals. Down 3-1 at the end of the first, the Eels fought back with two goals in the final period. The Royals slipped one by Martinez to make the final score 4-3.
Despite the loss to Long Island, the Eels are leading the MET league in wins and points. In addition the Eels have three of their forwards amongst the leading scorers in the MET League – Joey Giambalvo (8p), Zach Buckland (7p), and Cody Boyd (5 p).
With the new youth Ice Hockey season upon us parents, we just need to find the best deals on our kids hockey equipment this year. As most parents of youth hockey players, just paying for the season can be bad enough. Then you have to factor in the travel, gas money, a drive thru at least once each day, and the worst part, the hotel. AHHHHHH.
We just need to find the best equipment at the best prices for our kids to make it through to the next game. My son just advanced to the bantam AA division this year and I know he will be getting sticks broken and might even out grow a helmet or even his skates. “Not the skates, I fell like I just bought him new skates.”
The internet is a great place to find some great deals on hockey equipment. Have you looked into eBay to get some prices on hockey equipment? I have a place for you to check out where you can get all of the items from eBay in the hockey equipment section in one great website. Just come by and take a look at:
All types of equipment can be found in one spot. Goalie equipment, hockey helmets, hockey shin pads, and more. You can bid on them or even just buy them now. Take a look around and then come back to this article and leave me a comment. Good or bad, just let me know what kind of great deals you might have found.
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you around a rink near you.

If you need to get your stick handling to the next level then you should check out this great new product. The EZPuck. Weather you are on the ice or on dry land, you can’t get better then this. The EZPuck replaces the little orange cones that we all use. The bad thing about the cones is when you bump them, they go everywhere. Now you have to set them back up again. Just imagine running a quick drill with the whole team back to back, too much stop time.
Now with the EZPuck you put them down and they stay down. Also they don’t get in the way of the shaft of the stick as you weave the puck in and out. If you need to get your stick handling stills to the next level then you need to practice and practice. Take the EZPuck to the rink and start working out your problem areas now.
Product Features:
EZpuck is designed specifically to improve stick handling and puck control, which will lead to greater success and scoring.
EZPuck can be arranged in patterns to cover a wide variety of drills.
Consistent use of EZpuck will allow one to move the puck faster and with more accuracy.
Use of EZpuck will improve hand-eye coordination.
EZpuck allows you to train all year, both on or off the ice.
EZPuck is easy to transport and can be set up and ready for use in less than 30 seconds.
Never tip up a cone again!
EZpuck was engineered to remain stationary on the ice, unlike cones or other similar stick handling tools.
EZpuck was created with a low profile design that does not interfere with stick movement or skating.
This quality product was made with non-corrosive materials for longevity.
EZpuck was designed with an R-value to prevent EZPuck from freezing to the ice.
Lightweight and easy to transport.
Check out this video and you will see why the EZPuck is the next best thing to get your stick handling improved to the level you need it to be.
I came across this video on youtube the other day and thought that everyone might like to see it. It is Victory on Ice and you can check out the web site here http://www.victoryonice.com/. Now I am not a hockey coach or anything like that but this guy looks really good. The worst part is that on his schedule he was just at Incredible Ice, Coral Springs, FL. on Aug. 3rd – 6th. Well I hope you like the video and let me know what you think of it. Maybe we can get him down here to southwest Florida to do another hockey camp.
The Florida Eels and the Tampa Black Bears will joining forces in the 09/10 youth ice hockey season here is Florida. The two teams will be coming together to form a Bantam A team. This joint venture came to be this past Saturday night as the Bantam age players for the eels were holding a skills clinic. Coach Frank Scarpaci and Coach Chris Frontiero of the Black Bears put there heads together while at the Fort Myers Skatium to bring the teams together. In the upcoming season the Bantam A team will be wearing both the Florida Eels jerseys and the Tampa Black Bear jerseys throughout.
“With this agreement comes the ability to expose youth hockey players, in the Tampa Bay area, to what I believe is the finest hockey program in the southeast” said Coach Frontiero. “We are very happy to have the Florida Eels as our sister affiliate.”
Coach Scarpaci said,”The black bears are well run and this is an opportunity to open some doors for the and for us. Having the bears as our sister affiliate just makes our program here that much more accessible. Our goals are the same, to get as many of these kids to college as we can. And perhaps even some day see the first Florida born player in the NHL.”
If you would like more information on the Florida Eels youth hockey teams or this article you can check out the Florida Eels website.
I am proud to announce that another one our Florida Eels Elite player has reached his lifelong dream of playing NCAA Div. 3 College Hockey. Andrew Haber, who played for the Eels Bantam AAA team and the Midget U-16 AAA Team and most recently our Junior Team, has been accepted to Skidmore College in New York. It is extremely exciting for Andrew and his family. Andrew has been a solid defense-man for the Eels for years. He is an extremely smart player who goalies love to have protecting the defensive zone. Andrew can also rack up the points as well. He is a constant threat offensively. The past 2 years Andrew has also played for the Elite Prep School Lawrence Academy in Massachusetts.
At Lawrence, Andrew was one of several former Eels on their squad. We all look forward to Andrew playing NCAA Hockey for Skidmore. We are all very proud to see another member of our Eels progress to this elite level. A warm note also goes to Andrew’s dad, “Doc Haber” who generously demoted so much of his time and efforts to our Eels. Thank you and congratulations.
The best way to get better is to work on it. If you need to improve your stick handling then you need to set aside some time every day to work on what you need to improve. Hand eye coordination is the key in ice hockey. Being ablt to feel the puck on your stick and know where it is at all time. Get a golf ball and you hockey stick and work on these drills in the garage on in the basement . (if you have one, we don’t in Florida) Take a look at this video and it will give you some good ideas. Remember, you can’t get better if you don’t practice. Now get out there and work it.
And if you are in need of a new hockey stick then check this site out:
